Product Description

2,4-Dichlorophenoxyacetic Acid, or more commonly known as 2,4-D, is a synthetic plant growth regulator often used in tissue culture. Historically, 2,4-D has been used as an herbicide to destroy broadleef weeds without killing important crops such as corn and grains. It works by stimulating uncontrolled growth in the weed that cannot be indefinitely sustained. However at low doses, 2,4-Dichlorophenoxyacetic Acid can be an effective callus induction hormone in plant tissue culture media by mimicking auxins.

This high quality growth regulator is provided in a solid powder of ≥98% purity. To be used in aqueous solutions, it is recommended to dissolve 2,4-D in Ethanol, DMSO, or DMF first. 2,4-Dichlorophenoxyacetic Acid, Sodium Salt Monohydrate is much more readily soluble in water, if you are looking for a product with less hassle. bioWORLD carries over 60 modifications of Murashige and Skoog (MS) Medium, to which 2,4-D can easily be supplemented.

bioWORLD's products are supplied for LABORATORY RESEARCH USE ONLY. The product may not be used as a drug, agricultural or pesticidal product, food additive or as a household chemical.
