Product Description
Gelzan™, also known as Gelrite, is produced from a bacterial substrate composed of glucaronic acid, rhamnose, and glucose. It is often used as a substitute for agar in cell culture because it produces a clearer gel and requires less material to achieve the same gel strength. This makes it ideal for cultures that will later be analyzed under light microscopy. Because Gelzan™ is highly purified and very stable, even in acidic conditions, it has been used in drug delivery systems.
Ultra Pure Gelzan™ is free of chemical contaminants and has a gel strength of 400-700 g/cm2. For best results in microbiological and plant tissue culture media, it is recommended to dissolve Gelzan™ at 0.2-2.0% concentration.
bioWORLD's products are supplied for LABORATORY RESEARCH USE ONLY. The product may not be used as a drug, agricultural or pesticidal product, food additive or as a household chemical.
