Product Description
Kanamycin is an antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections and was first isolated from Streptomyces kanamyceticus. Kanamycin interacts with the 30S subunit or prokaryotic ribosomes and indirectly inhibits translocation during protein synthesis. Only the bacteria that have successfully taken up the kanamycin resistance gene become resistant.
BSA (bovine serum albumin) is conjugated to kanamycin. One or both of the two amine groups in kanamycin are directly linked to carboxyl group(s) in BSA. Kanamycin has a molecular weight of 484.5 Da and BSA has a molecular weight of 66.4 kDa. The resultant conjugation solution is then buffer-exchanged with 20 mM PBS at a pH of 7.4.
Conjugated BSA-kanamycin is used to recognize kanamycin-specific antibodies by ELISA and lateral flow based immunoassay. Product can be stored below -20°C for up to 1 year.
