HEPES-Buffered Saline, or HBS, is a highly effective buffer for tissue culture because it maintains physiological pH. It also is superior in comparison to other Good's buffers at maintaining buffer capacity even at low temperature. HBS has been used as a separator in isoelectric focusing gels because it enhances phosphoglucomutase resolution.
HEPES Buffered Saline is provided at a 2X concentration that can easily be diluted for use in cell culture. It is sterile to prevent any contamination in the sample.
